The Dolomites. Elementary school age children are experiencing their “first stirrings” amidst crushes, promises, enchantments, escapes, betrayals, arguments and reconciliations. Matilde has always loved Tobia but Tobia has a crush on Agata, newly arrived to wreck havoc on the little community of kids united by their love of sports, which in that latitude are practiced on ice, skating for the girls and ice hockey for the boys. Not only Matilde and Tobia seem promised to one another, but also Katerine and Aleksey, both Russian in origin, she adopted by Italians, he the son of a Russian couple who moved to northern Italy. One is missing: Ajit, son of an Indian couple which migrated, who knows why, to the Dolomites. Ajit is enamored, too, but of Matilde, and confesses it to his imaginary friend.
