Sophocles’ character Antigone is re-proposed in a contemporary context. The protagonist is Antigone, a young immigrant from an Arab country, who lives in Québec with a sister, two brothers and their grandmother. Their parents died in a war that caused bloodshed in their country. Antigone will find herself fighting against the law and morals to defend her family’s integrity after Eteocles, affiliated with a gang of Arab criminals, is killed by the police during the arrest of his other brother, Polynice. Even if Polynice's conduct is not unblemished, Antigone feels a strong duty to unite again a family that has already suffered the cruelty of history.
