Nicola Palmieri teaches art history and dreams of music. An enthusiastic frontman for a group of friends who are really into their instruments, he composes songs and would like to perform on the laidback stage at Scanzano. Salvatore, the guitarist, is a medical student who has abandoned his degree and the idea of love; Franco, the double bass player, is an angler whom love has rendered speechless and without purpose; Rocco, the drummer, is a charmer obsessed with celebrity. They decide to cross the Basilicata region from the Mediterranean to the Ionian, undertaking a picaresque journey that is filmed by a local TV station, accompanied by bored and jaded journalists. Between a hymn to the moon and a glass of Aglianico, Nicola and friends put their lives in tune and sing their loveliest song in the rain.
