Esma decides to grant the wish of her twel-ve-year-old daughter Sara who wants to go on a school trip. A certificate attesting to the fact that her father is a martyr to the war in former Yugoslavia would save a great deal on trip expenses, and the family is hard up. Sara insists that her mother obtain the document, since she always said that her father died as a hero. But the woman does everything she can to scrounge up the money without asking for a discount. There is a hidden truth she prefers not to reveal because it could harm them both.
