IL CASO BRAIBANTI

2020

1968. Philosopher, poet and former partisan Aldo Braibanti is tried and convicted for having plagiarized twenty-one year old Giovanni Sanfratello. In the year of the peak of a process of transformation and liberation, Italy was witnessing a renewed witch hunt.

Through important testimonies (from Piergiorgio Bellocchio to Dacia Maraini, from Lou Castel to Maria Monti, and also Braibanti's nephew), we are offered the opportunity to retrace a trial that, under the guise of a crime codified by the Rocco Code from fascist times and canceled by the Constitutional Court in 1981, was in fact a trial for homosexuality.
