Alfredo and Susanna, respectively an architect and a psychologist helping women who have suffered abuse, have a house in the countryside outside Rome where they spend some weekends and part of the summer. One day Susanna sees a young prostitute who is molested by a man on the edge of the road and decides to help her, first taking her home and then to Rome to guarantee a better future for her. Despite the multiple uncertainties and the pettiness of a pair of friends, everything seems to be heading in the right direction until an unexpected event disturbs the peace of conscience.
