LA ROSA DI BAGDAD

1949

Princess Zeila, the daughter of the Caliph of Baghdad, is about to be married. To choose the suitors, princes from neighbouring countries are invited. The perfidious vizier Jafar, who sees marriage to Zeila as a means to take over the kingdom, knowing that the princess would never agree to the wedding, plans to put a bewitched ring on her finger that will make her fall in love with him. Amin, the princess's young music teacher, discovers the plan and steals the ring. Jafar, however, imprisons him in a castle and the magician Burk uses a spell to make him dark-skinned and therefore unrecognisable even to his mother.
