A village in the Colombian Andes. Manuel has an old ball that he and his friends play football with every day. For his ninth birthday Ernesto, his father, gives him a new ball and goalie’s gloves. One day Manuel and his best friend, Julian, unwittingly throw the ball into a minefield. Despite the danger, the whole band of kids decides to get it back, whatever the cost. Behind their games are sensed signs of an armed conflict poisoning daily life and spurring most of the villagers to leave.
