Rocco Granata is very young and dreams of playing the accordion like his father, who has decided to abandon music and Calabria for the mines in Belgium and a better future. Two years later Salvatore, having gotten visas for his family, brings them together in a shack and in a town hostile to foreigners. But Rocco won’t take long to learn Flemish and make himself loved by a little blond girl who has a weakness for Italians and melodic song. The years pass and Rocco never forgets that love, whom he now wishes to amaze with his voice. With the money he has saved working as a mechanic he buys a Stradella accordion and puts together a band with which to perform and finally compose his music. But he father is against it.
