Spirit, a wild stallion, is born on the wild, untainted plains of the American west. His early life is devoted to play and adventure, leading him to discover with wonderment the immense spaces and boundless resources of his native land. As a young adult he is head of his band. But one day he encounters White Man in the guise of a violent army colonel. Spirit is captured and humiliated but, saved by a young Lakota tribesman, he finds refuge in the youth’s village, where he meets his first love, Rain. Another hard trial is waiting for him but Spirit will know what to do.
