Tedo, a 12-year-old Abkhaz refugee is trying to make a life for himself on the outskirts of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia. He lives in a hut with his young mother, who to survive occasionally prostitutes herself. Tedo works as an apprentice in a modest garage and tries to make some money with minor thefts. His prospects for a better life are non-existent. So he decides to take off alone to seek his father who, it appears, still lives in Abkhazia, on “the other bank”, beyond the new frontier. Thus begins a long odyssey across the devastated lands of Georgia and Abkhazia where nothing, after the 2008 war between Russia and Georgia, is as it was.
