The City of Lugano - in collaboration with Casa della Letteratura per la Svizzera italiana, Gruppo registi e sceneggiatori della Svizzera italiana, Ticino Film Commission, Castellinaria and Locarno Film Festival - confirms for 2025 and 2026 its support for the writing of cinematographic works by proposing three artistic residencies a year in the splendid setting of Carona.
The residency project at Casa Pantrovà was launched in 2021 at the instigation of the Culture Division, with the support and collaboration of the Casa della Letteratura per la Svizzera italiana, the Gruppo registi e sceneggiatori della Svizzera italiana and the Ticino Film Commission. The importance of this support for a delicate but very important phase in the creation of audiovisual works has been confirmed since the second edition when both Castellinaria and Locarno Film Festival were added as official project partners.
Once again this year those who win the competition will be able to benefit from a four-week residency (from 28 July to 25 August) with a reimbursement of expenses (worth CHF 3,000) and important advantages: among the most important are unlimited access to screenings at the Locarno Film Festival and the possibility of participating in the day of meetings and exchanges organised by the Ticino Film Commission in collaboration with Locarno Pro during the Festival.
The residencies put up for competition are of three types: one is dedicated to a writing project in the audiovisual sphere in the Italian language by a Swiss author; a second may also welcome projects in another national language in addition to Italian, on condition that these have a strong link with the territory and can justify the need for a stay in Ticino for the development of the work; finally, the third writing residency is, from 2022 onwards, reserved for screenplays dedicated to works for children and young people, in memory of Lisa Tetzner and Kurt Kläbler, and will welcome projects preferably in Italian, but is also open to other national languages. The winner of this specific residency will have the opportunity to present their project as part of the 38th edition of Castellinaria Festival del cinema giovane.
A meeting will be organised during the month of August in order to share the guests' experience with cultural operators, film lovers and the general public.
