After exploring the world of the sightless with the touching experience of Per altri occhi, director Silvio Soldini continues, with documentarian Giorgio Garini, along a fascinating route populated by people with extraordinary vital force, as sculptor Felice Tagliaferri, long from the clichés with which our society often regards the blind.
The project for the CBM Italia documentary stemmed from the need to continue the journey begun with Per altri occhi in a completely different context.
We are in India, in Shillong, a remote town near Bangladesh.
The narrating voice is that of the blind sculptor Felice Tagliaferri, one of the leads in Per altri occhi, a person with extraordinary communication ability. He will take us far from his native Bologna to the Bethany School in Shillong where 15 children and equally many teachers are waiting for him to teach them how to model clay. And it is here, among the benches at the Bethany School, that the miracle takes place.
Felice, while not knowing a word of the local language, finds his own way of communicating with the blind, deaf and deaf-and-blind children attending the clay workshop. On the other hand, words aren’t needed to teach art.
