WOODLAND CAFÉ

1937

Insects eager to dance enter the Woodland Café, a glittering nightclub where various jazz groups play. Among others we make the acquaintance of the arrogant ape and the provocative red ant. The lights are dimmed and the show begins: a spider does a thousand acrobatics with a fly. Then everyone starts to dance. Grasshoppers play with the band and everybody dances.
This cartoon is a pure musical divertissement inspired by the world of insects, which become highly expressive humanized characters. Composer Harline was once again inspired by old songs and even used a famous tune by Offenbach: the dance of the Apaches.
